Frequently Asked Questions About Body Composition Scans

What is a body composition scan and how is it different from regular scales?
A body composition scan, like the InBody 570 we use, goes beyond just measuring weight. It breaks down your body into fat, muscle, and water—giving you a much clearer picture of your health than a basic scale ever could.
What can the InBody 570 scan actually tell me?
The InBody scan provides data on muscle mass, body fat percentage, visceral fat, water balance, and segmental muscle distribution. It also tracks progress over time to help fine-tune your nutrition and training.
Is the scan safe and does it hurt?
Yes, it’s completely safe and non-invasive. You simply stand on the platform and hold the hand electrodes for around 60 seconds. There’s no radiation, no discomfort, and no prep needed.
How often should I get a body composition scan?
We typically recommend a scan every 4–6 weeks to monitor changes, track your progress, and adjust your plan. Our programs include multiple scans to guide your journey.
Can I do an InBody scan if I’m pregnant or have a pacemaker?
If you’re pregnant or have an implanted electronic device (like a pacemaker), we do not recommend using the InBody scan due to its bioelectrical impedance method. We’ll suggest alternative assessment tools in these cases.
Do I need to fast or prepare in advance for my scan?
For best results, try to avoid eating, drinking, or exercising for at least 2–3 hours before your scan. We also recommend using the bathroom beforehand and removing shoes and socks.
Will I get help interpreting the results?
You will receive a copy of your scan, which includes some interpretation instructions. For a small additional fee, you can get expert interpretation from a qualified dietitian or nutritionist. We’ll walk you through what the data means and how to use it to reach your goals.
How much does a scan cost, and is it included in your programs?
Yes, body composition scans are included in all of our core programs at no extra cost.

Can I book a scan even if I’m not a full program client?
Yes! You can book a single scan with a consult or as part of a standalone check-in. If you’re new to BBN, we recommend starting with our $49 health check which includes an InBody scan and expert review.
